About WHIZZ

Whizz ICT Skills & Services Centre (Henceforth Whizz) is a business entity based in Khayelitsha, Western Cape that provides Information Communication Technology (ICT) services. Whizz has been operating since 2008, providing various services ranging from computer skills development to digital services such as printing, scanning, and photocopying.

Our Story

The company was founded following research that identified the extensive ICT skills gap in low-income communities/townships. The digital skills gap is a result of limited or lack of ICT infrastructure, connectivity, and access to ICT services, a phenomenon that can be traced back to apartheid where there was an unequal division of opportunities and social services. Whizz aims at helping people in disadvantaged communities excel in the digital world.

Whizz’s target market includes all individuals as well as Small, Medium, and Micro
Enterprises (SMMEs). The majority of the target market is the youth, who are
unemployed. Whizz equips the youth with tools that enhance their employability and
provides SMEs with branding materials and training that enables them to effectively
use ICT to improve their business activities.

Whizz is expanding its services to other areas by opening an additional service outlet
in Eerste Rivier, Western Cape, a town with a population of approximately 40000,
where at least 80 percent are coloured people. The Eerste River’s branch will be
based at the Shoprite shopping mall, a popular shopping centre in the area, providing
a geographical advantage.

The Team On A Mission

The company’s mission is to contribute towards community development by providing Information Communication Technology (ICT) services and training.
